HOW TO GET A PART TIME JOB IN THE UK | EP 2

Hello Rafikis, Here’s part two to the work/study series.

Please do check out part one where I talk about my experience working in the U.K.

Episode one – working Part-time alongside University

In this episode I talk about what you need to know in order for you to get a job.

  • Tier 4 Visa restrictions – if you are from Kenya or any other country that is listed as tier 4 (you can find the link here https://www.gov.uk/tier-4-general-visa),you will be restricted to work a maximum of 20 hours a week during term time, but you can work full-time during the holidays.

Please note that I am not a professional on immigration status so kindly do your research, this is just based off my own experience. Also this may differ in different countries as some countries do not allow students to work.

  • National Insurance number – you can find out more about this from the Home office website here https://www.gov.uk/apply-national-insurance-number

  • Casual summer CV – comment down below if you would like me to share my CVs with you!

  • Bank Account – also comment down below if you would like me to guide you through opening a bank account!

  • Confidence  & Ambition– I got my job by walking in, asking for the manager and asking him if they were hiring.

  • Patience & Persistence – I handed out over 10 CVs to different places before I got hired.
