BAREFOOT & UNWINDING

BAREFOOT & UNWINDING

Can you believe it’s mid October and the sun is shinning in England?

If you have been following me closely, you would know that I have a thing for the sunshine. I was born whilst the sun was shining and even named after the sunshine.

I also purpose daily to unmask sunshine and live my best life,  but I am only human, I get tired and stressed.

I am currently a full time final year law student, working a part time job three days a week, running this blog and member of various boards and committees.

I guess it’s all practice for when I become a mum, a wife and a badass career woman! (From my mouth to God’s ears).

I love being productive but sometimes I spread myself to thin by doing the most.  This then overwhelms and stresses me.

Luckily I learned early in my first year that the older I became the more conscious effort I would have to make to protect and care for my mental health.

It is essential to take time off to care of your mental 🌺

Seeing as the week just passed was mental health awareness week, I thought it would be helpful to share some of the things I do to take care of my mental health.

Instead of waiting to fully melt down, I unwind as soon as I begin to sense hints of stress and anxiety.

This Saturday I made my way to the beach side to unwind typically I like to unwind alone but on this occasion I went with a friend.

1. Cancel plans

Do not feel guilty about it

Remember, it is mental health is just as important as your physical health.

2. Unplug from social media

Delete your apps for the day and live in the moment.

Keep up with your own life instead of everyone elses.

“Stop trying to stunt for us on the gram, we aren’t even your real friends”

3. Hydrotherapy

Go to the beach, or take a bath.

There’s is something so therapeutic about water.

4.  Work out

Go to the gym, or try out yoga.

Physical workouts release feel good feelings!

5. Try out something new

Try out a salsa class, challenge yourself to an escape adventure or a laser tag game.

It is not ever day turn up for fun, sometimes try live you best caucasian life.

6. Keep Good Company

Spend time with people that will go out of their way to make you laugh.

Spend time with people who genuinely put a smile on your face.

7. Pray

Talking to someone greater than you ,

who has the power to take you through any obstacle is always helpful.
