MY AFRICAN VERSION OF THE LADY IN RED

MY AFRICAN VERSION OF THE LADY IN RED

I so dearly wanted to be the lady in red at my high school prom. After scrambling online with my sister, I finally settled on this red dress. Unfortunately I never went to prom, and so I never got to be the lady in red that night.

None the less, I have loved and wore the dress on several occasions. In this particular instance, I decided to pair it with a Maasai neck piece and a Kente head wrap.

This is a trend most Afro beat artists have began to incorporate in their music videos. They use this look to glorify the African woman and I’m here for it!

Maasai is a tribe that is spread across Kenya and Tanzania whereas African Kente originated from Western Africa. It’s the perfect blend of the East and the West.

I spiced it up by adding my favourite red dress to the mix.

How did I do?
